Leaping into the Blue Reaching to the Sky and beyond. This Cuff is Textured in a raw rustic style to emphasise the raw nature of the stone. This piece features a raw natural Australian Turquoise. Natural Turquoise is rarer as most are stabilised with resin making lower grade Turquoise stronger and richer in colour. Turquoise by nature is a relatively soft, porous stone, and it can vary greatly in its quality. Only higher grade natural turquoise is actually dense enough that it can be cut and shaped without damaging the stone. Softer, lower grade turquoise has to be treated in some way in order for it to be usable in jewellery. Stabilised turquoise can be produced in large quantities and is less expensive than natural turquoise. Care; Raw turquoise will be affected by water and oils, which will change its colour. It is not as strong as stabilised Turquoise so if it gets bashed around it may chip. The face measures 4.4 cm x 4 cm , the Turquoise piece measures 3.2 cm x 2 cm at their widest points. All of my work is made in my little coastal studio. I use traditional slow jewellery making techniques, each piece is individually made and not mass produced. The recycled sterling silver comes from a silver supplier who is committed to minimising environmental impact by recycling metal rather than using metals from new mines.
